Well, this might just have to happen.

Okay . . . I have zero desire to collect anything other than Ponies (not to mention: zero dollars to afford to collect anything other than Ponies) (although it's technically not impossible that I might start to bring in more money next year by selling my pictures in art shows or entering some stand-up contests or getting a second job or selling my pictures in art shows and entering some stand-up contests and getting a second job), but I just watched this, and what with caring so much about the Element of Honesty & everything before the theme song was over, I had to admit: Part of me, not exactly a tiny part, really wants to maybe collect Ever After High just a little.

As much as I adore Raven, I really truly kind of sort of terribly need to buy a Maddie doll so she can hang out with Pinkie Pie and join photo shoots like this one in the future. EDIT: Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! I'm trawling Lori's Flickr right now, and I just noticed that Maddie's hat is shaped like a teacup!

While we're on the subject, I would be violating the Element of Honesty in a big way lying if I said that Monster High didn't severely intrigue me.

My influence...spreading. Mwahahahahahaha!

My faves:

Raven: For obvious reasons. She's awesome. She's gorgeous. She wears clothes I would have worn in my early goth years when I was more girly.

Lizzie: I LOVE her design. And her voice. We don't know much about her yet sadly.

Cupid: Cupid was introduced in Monster High and had bone wings and this odd black and white body. She's Eros's adopted daughter. She transferred to EAH and is SO MUCH BETTER here.

Hopper: I think he's adorable.

Cedar: Adorkable!

Cerise: Another girl with awesome style. She's sitting right here by my computer. I didn't think I was going to like her doll, but the one I have is so gorgeous that she's led me to become more enamored of the character.

The signature dolls (meaning the ones wearing the outfits they're most frequently seen wearing in the webisodes) run about $20 at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us. They're pretty affordable, especially if you're choosy about characters. Signature Raven is my favorite, followed by signature Cerise, then Legacy Day Apple and Raven.

Oh, gods above & gods below, (I think) I can ~totally afford~ an extra $20 for an occasional non-Pony doll! Hot damn. Not that I was expecting them to be astronomically expensive, but.

P.S. Cerise is totally a werewolf, isn't she?

2013-11-28 05:34 am (UTC) (Link)

Not so much a werewolf as half-anthro wolf. Some of them are animal characters, but in human form. Like Kitty Cheshire is the daughter of the Cheshire Cat, but she's clearly human. Cerise's dad (if you keep watching the webisodes, you'll get to him) is just a guy with wolf ears, yet he's still supposed to be the Big Bad Wolf. Who married Little Red Riding Hood and Cerise is their kid.

HAH, I knew it! Are her parents going to get in trouble for breaking the rules like that?

I've only watched this one episode so far, but I was reading up on Maddie, so I was able to have an a-ha moment and figure out who Kitty must be. I think, after Maddie & Raven, Kitty is the only doll I'd absolutely have to get . . . so far.

We don't know what's going to happen to Cerise's parents yet. It was only recently revealed. The webisodes go: Apple's Tale/Raven's Tale, Stark Raven Mad, True Reflections, Maddie-in-Chief, Briar's Study Party, Here Comes Cupid, The Shoe Must Go On, The Cat Who Cried Wolf, Cedar Wood Would Love to Lie, Catching Raven, and Legacy Day. The Cat Who Cried Wolf is Cerise's and it's left unresolved. Both a good person and a bad person know her secret now.

If you like the Wonderland girls, you'd need Lizzie Hearts, too. There's no daughter or son of Alice yet, but there were a couple possible trademarks for an Alistair (a son of Alice would rock) and a possible daughter of the White Rabbit.

We have no sign of a doll for Kitty yet. Their shoe molds turn up on this Chinese auction site called Taobao and that's how we know new dolls are coming soon. No one's seen Kitty's shoes yet, but she should be out next year. Cupid and we're hoping Lizzie will be the next pair. Then Cedar should be coming soon and a pair of shoes that likely belong to Holly O'Hair have been found as well.

I . . . Maddie is the most obvious & necessary, but yes, I might need to track down all & any dolls of girls with Wonderland heritage so they can hang out with Pinkie. Yes. (Alistair sounds cool, too.)

It's disappointing that there is currently no Kitty doll, but I would ideally not start collecting anyone other than Maddie until next year anyway, so maybe that is a sign that this is my destiny.

You know, she's really really pretty, but Apple just completely bores me.

Apple's more interesting if you get in her head, like in the book. The same with all the Royals actually. Except Daring. He's legit boring.

Alright, I won't write her off entirely. Actually, she sort of inexplicably reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw, so that could be weirdly fun.

It really helps to read the doll storybooks and Shannon Hale's novel, too. And then there are the ebooks. Hang on, I'll get some links.

I have Apple, Raven, Maddie and Briar's full storybooks and the Canadian ones for Blondie and Cerise. We're not sure yet if the Canadian ones were cut short, but they're 4 pages shorter than the others, so I think they must be.

(Starts there and you just click the left arrow for the rest.)

Those are all the doll storybooks. They're really fun.

Then you can check out the ebooks here... Oh, wait, the site is down so I can't get a link. They're on the EAH official site. I'll get you a link at some point. The ebooks are written by Shannon Hale, who is really awesome. And then if you like those, there's this:
I am rereading it right now. It's great!

Damn, the summary for that novel really does sound intriguing.

Yeah, the most the signatures should cost is $21.99. Ashlynn and Hunter are the exception, since they're only available in a 2-pack. I'm not a big Ashlynn fan, but the Hunter doll is gorgeous.
